Scuba Diving La Jolla Cove
If you are a diver in San Diego you will want to dive in La Jolla, which on a good day is as good as Catalina. OEX La Jolla is the only physical dive shop in all of La Jolla, where we have been for almost 18 years. Divers understand it makes sense to dive with an experienced and professional local, the first time at a new site, especially one as diverse as La Jolla’s Ecological Preserve. Not yet certified? Visit our PADI Classes section, we can help. Otherwise, rent our high quality gear and dive with a buddy!
La Jolla is home to La Jolla’s Ecological Reserve and Underwater Park, a 600 acre marine life refuge and virtual playground for scuba divers and snorkelers alike. It is considered to be the best shore diving in San Diego and is famous for its many species of marine mammals, fish, and birds. Scuba divers from all over the world come to witness Giant Kelp and the ocean creatures that make it their home. La Jolla is known to divers around the world as California’s Underwater Yosemite.
Divers can expect to come across Garibaldi, kelp fish, octopus, lobster, and even diving birds (Brandt’s Cormorant). Brown pelicans and Harbor Seals, many of which congregate on the rocks near La Jolla Cove, have been known to accompany divers on the shore kick out to the site.
